99 and counting

Raise your hand if you like maths!
I hope you’re waving it madly now, cos we got some NUMBERS a’ comin’!
Two Number of days away from the blog- so loooooonnnggg! I actually get kinda excited about blogging, when I’ve been away for a while; I never know what photos will be on my camera and it’s kinda cool to see what I’ve been up to. #memoryofafish
Six inches (minimum) – height of shoes I wore to my Gran’s birthday meal.

I’m very proud of the fact that I can still touch my toes in the monster shoes :-p

See?? They were B I G! My sister loaned them to me for the evening, so why not!? I felt a little odd compared to the rest of the family though – my gran is all of about 4ft tall now, my step dad is 5ft8, my aunt about 5ft5, my mum – 5ft6, my grandpa – 5ft5 ish (they shrink), Hannah (in heels) about 5ft9 – and then there was all of 6ft2ish of me! I sure did have to duck in the pub…darn low beams.
Four pancakes I ate at lunch today.

One word: awesome. They were a mix of soya flour, chestnut flour, cinnamon, garlic, carrot and baking powder and were SO freakin’ good; all gooey on the inside
I also had a bowl of roast, curry powdered-up broccoli on the side:

One needs iron, you know.
Five coffees (at least) that I have drunk over the past two days….I do love my coffee.
Eighty Eight years old that my Grandma turned!

I’m not quite sure why my step dad looks so grrr at her ….Eighty eight aka OLD. My whole family seem to live for a really really long time – my grandpa is 90 in August! I wonder if I’ll reach that age….

Eleven miles ran on Saturday.

Amazing run!! I normally do my long runs on Sundays, but I knew we were going out for a meal Sat evening, and I was not convinced I’d get a hearty carb meal (I was right) so I switched it to Saturday. Twas a faboosh idea cos the weather on Saturday was 10 x nicer than on Sunday, AND I had my best run in ages, and my longest run since the marathon! I didn’t actually feel like running at all on Saturday morning (I just wanted to curl up in a ball and go back to sleep cos I was tired) but I told myself I’d just do 8 – secretly knowing that if I did 8, I’d definitely go the whole hog and do my planned 10. BUT the run was going SO well I just went and did 11!
When I set out, I decided to go slower cos I was thinking my pace last week (7.50-something) was too fast, hence why i had breathing issues. In the end though, I fell into a lovely 8.04 pace, and it felt fantastic. I had a GU at about mile 7 (holyheck I forgot how delicious those are!) and slammed a carton of soya milk the second I finished.
Runs like that remind me of why I love running, SO much.
One Thousand, Eight Hundred and Ninety Six ml of rain bucketed down this weekend. OH. my. days. It’s been a constant see-saw of torrentially heavy rain, interspersed with a bit of sun / wind – very, very odd. Amazingly though, I only got wet the once on my run
During work on Friday though? I had to leave part way through my shift to top up my carpark ticket, and I happened to leave during the heaviest rain known to man…

….the rest of my shift was spent freezing cold in soaked-to-the-skin shoes. Nay fun.
Three attempts to make my new debit card PIN work – three attempts too many apparently, cos now my card is blocked and I’ve got to trek aaaalll the way to the bank tomorrow to get it fixed. GAH! I got a new card the other day (cos the old one reached its’….sell-by?…date), hence the problem. One is miffed.
Multiple bowls of oatmeal consumed (of course):

They’re actually oatmeal / millet flake mixes, which is my new Thang

It is Brit Chick Runs, after all.
One (bad) films seen – my mum and I saw Bad Teacher on Friday night, and it was really disappointing! We both had high hopes for it, but it seemed like all the jokes were done in the first 1/4, and then it was very very blah. Cameron Diaz’s character was too much, and I felt like old Timberpuss‘ character changed randomly part way through and it didn’t seem to work. Meerrrrrrrrrrh. I’m hoping to see Bridesmaids this weekend though, so hopefully that’ll be better!
Three special vegan dishes prepared for me by the chef at the world’s meatiest restaurant – isn’t that sweet of them!? The restaurant we went to for my Gran’s birthday is like, a pub that grows its’ own animals, so they specialise in meat with a very very meaty menu (no veg options)- they even have a Steak Night on Thursdays! As my aunt is strict vegetarian and I’m vegan, I phoned ahead on Friday to say there were two oddballs coming in, and could they do anything? They sure did!

The chef made a sweet potato soup for starter (if we wanted it), or the mushroom fritters which were already on the menu, but with chilli sauce as opposed to garlic mayo. My mum was ordering the mushroom fritters anyway, so I just nabbed one of hers (I wasn’t hungry enough for a full starter):

They were OK, but everso greasy :/
For main, the chef had made stuffed aubergine:

I have NO idea what was in it, but it was extremely delicious! There nuts and herbs and mush in the aubergine, and it was sooo flavourful; there was a lot of effort put into it, which was sweet
The only downside was that it was SO oily – my plate was like a little bowl of EVOO at the end! I still ate it though:

Cos it was seriously yum.
Sadly, there wasn’t really a dessert option – I asked if the summer pudding was vegan ( I loooove summer pudding) but it had gelatin in it, and the sorbet had egg whites. Egg whites in a sorbet!? I appreciated their honesty, but…egg whites in a sorbet!? I was surprised! In the end, I had some fruit:

Good stuff!
After the meal, we went back to my Gran’s house to open presents and have coffee – but I was hungry by the time we got home! Which leads tooooo…..
One bowls of cereal consumed when I got back from the meal out, at 11pm. With yogurt. And an apple. And some soya milk. And maybe a blob of peanut butter too :-p This runner needs more than an oily aubergine for dinner!
Infinite
number of head shakes from Chika today – my poor bubbah got a midge bite or something up her nozzer, cos I could barely get her bridle on, she was shaking her head so much! Poor girl…In fact, typing that has reminded me that I want to go out and check her now to see if she’s any better.
*10minutes later*
Muchos improved! I think she’s feeling better now
Over five hundred
spam comment emails in my inbox this weekend. HELP! I’m getting ‘comments’ from thousands of spam email accounts on random back posts, and obviously every time I get one, I get an email about it – which means I am getting HUNDREDS of spam emails a day! It’s horrible and I don’t know how to stop it, without installing one of those comment systems where you have to write out the letters in the box (you know the ones I mean!?). Gaahhhh.
Infinite
(again) number of job websites trawled through, trying to find a suitable job; who would’ve thought being unemployed would be more stressful than doing exams!? Cos it is! Le sigh.
How was your weekend? What was the last film you saw at the cinema? I gotta say, I’m mega excited about Bridesmaids! I’ve heard verh, verh good things about it.

Sunday, June 19th 2011 at 8:04 pm |
Haha love this girly!! Gosh I have so much to comment on
Firstly, WOW at those killer heels! And SERIOUSLY impressive that you can still touch your toes LOL!
Secondly – happy birthday to your grandma yaaay! 88 and she still looks really healthy..you are gonna be OLD girl!
And wow wow wow for your run! You are amazing. Enough said.
Looks like you had a really good dinner and it’s so good of the restaurant to cater for you. It’s such a hard thing to be able to eat out as a vegan and I know a lot of places just think you’re being stupid and refuse to change anything and are actually quite rude to you about it all. The stuffed aubergine looks amazing!!
Woah over 500 spam email?! That’s not good…
And I totally feel you on the job searching still. I’m still waiting to hear from Topshop so in the meantime I’m still trawling through millions of websites. GAH.
I REALLY want to see Bridesmaids too!! So if you see it before I do, please say how it was!!
Sunday, June 19th 2011 at 8:05 pm |
I’m hoping to go see bridesmaids on Monday, everyone i’ve spoken to says its awesome
Hooray for getting something so tasty from the restaurant, i love it when you ask for something different and it works out; i bet all the meat eaters were jealous of that monster aubergine!
Love those shoes too

Aaah I feel ya! I get a LOT of spam now, but at one point it was REALLY bad! What about getting a Captcha plugin? They’re annoying for commenters, but at least you won’t get as bad spam!
Whaaaaat egg whites in sorbet?! Who does that?! Haha lucky you checked!! And I am SO looking forward to Bridesmaids too! It looks awesome!

I totally feel you on the job hunt thing -.- I’ve been “casually” looking for one myself since school ended, but I really think I need to get my butt in gear because I’m getting bored with all this free time, and finding a job is a lot harder than I thought. Grr. That’s crazy about the spam, though
I’ve been getting a few odd ones here and there, but nothing that crazy. And speaking of crazy, I’m in LOVE with your shoes
I’m 5’9 without heels, so I can definitely relate to feeling odd when I put on some crazy heels that make me taller than pretty much everyone else. The thing that I’ve always hated the most is that it’s SO hard to find a guy that’s tall enough for me to wear my heels around… I don’t wanna be taller than the guy I’m dating!
Sunday, June 19th 2011 at 8:46 pm |
:O You’re 5ft9 too!? Yep, I’m officially a little bit in love with you!
I sooo rarely wear heels, cos I’m 5ft9 and you’re right – most men are shawties and can’t even meet me at shoulder level with heels!

Holy crap those shoes are HAWWWTTT!! That aubergine thing sounds delicious!
Ahh I’m going to see Bridesmaids on Wednesday I think, can’t wait!
Sunday, June 19th 2011 at 8:42 pm |
Loved this post, your shoes are so nice!!! What an awesome run as well! I love it when you get a run like that, makes you feel so good about yourself! Shame bad teachers wasnt all that good..its been ages since i went to the cinema, last thing I went to see was erm…Source Code I think, but that was pretty good
cant wait for harry potter to come out..excited!!
Sunday, June 19th 2011 at 9:03 pm |
Oooh I love the shoes! soo nice, and you look GORGEOUS! I would be in your situation…5’10″ on flat feet make me in heels monstrous! That aubergine looked reallly good too! yum. Good luck finding a job!

Try downloading the akismet plugin (http://akismet.com/), its kept spam comments off my site pretty well. I hope it works for you too!

Bridesmaids was the last movie I saw and it was so good! I was with my parents, so it was a bit awkward at the beginning, but the humor made up for it. Seriously I’m still laughing! And your cute grandmother! Be grateful for good genes. My grandparents are all way up there in age too.
Monday, June 20th 2011 at 12:36 am |
I LOVE your shoes! I totally suck at walking in heels, which is really unfortunate because they look so good on.
My standards for healthy food goes down when I go out. If it’s vegan, I’ll eat it.
Monday, June 20th 2011 at 1:06 am |
I love this post, and I ADORE those shoes!
Monday, June 20th 2011 at 1:57 am |

Congrats on the eleven miles too! Such a good pace, I’m envious!

Happy birthday to your grandma! Wow that’s an amazing run!! It’s such a nice thing you found a restaurant willing to accommodate your order. Not too many of them out there. And that’s a lot of spam seriously!! Love the shoes by the way!
Monday, June 20th 2011 at 4:43 am |
That’s so great that the restaurant could accommodate you–I know how difficult it can be sometimes!
Monday, June 20th 2011 at 4:55 am |
I agree girl! Being unemployed and searching for suitable jobs is just as stressful as studying for exams
Monday, June 20th 2011 at 6:21 am |
i went to see bad teacher this weekend too. i was sooo disappointed! i was all set for some laugh till your sides split guffaws. but nope. we’d seen them all in the trailer. BOO. i did like camreon’s “teacher” outfits tho. but how the hell did she afford christian louboutin shoes on a teacher salary?!?!?! jealous, moi?! im a converse girl anyways…
speaking of which. FAB shoes. im rubbish in high heels, i fall over myself. im 5’7 (and a very important half!!!) so i dont wear them much
Monday, June 20th 2011 at 6:31 am |
Yay for the chef making you special meals. The last film I was was Senna, and it was brilliant. Bridemaids looks quite good though, sort of like The Hangover for girls.
Monday, June 20th 2011 at 7:03 am |
Lovely post!
My weekend was full of studying… Exams end the 1st of July, so still little two weeks to go
The last film i saw in Cinema was ‘In a better world’ (Haevnen) from Susanne Bier, it was touching, sad, … But nice to watch.
I would’ve fallen over 500 times on those shoes! Congrats for your gran, 88?! She still looks good.
Monday, June 20th 2011 at 7:42 am |
Egg whites in sorbet?! SERIOUSLY! I LOVE English pub meals. You don’t get ANYthing like that here in NZ so whenever I visit England my Dad and I always go for a pub meal
My Grandad turned 90 this Feb and he’s still chugging along. I sometimes wonder if I’ll get to that age too.
I had an awesome weekend…maybe got a little bit too drunk though
I REALLY wanna see Bridesmaids!!!!!!!!!!!
xxx

AHHHHH THOSE SHOES ARE TO DIE FOR…OH AND THE PANCAKES!
Its great the chef catered for you oddballs and your ‘special’ diet
the last film i say was the remake of thor a few weeks ago… it was long and rediculous and it cost a whole lot more to see because it was in 3D and i had to pay extra for the glasses… major disapointment.

Happy birthday to your Gram! My dad just turned 51 on Friday; half my family lives to be really old (my mom’s side; my great-grandmother turns 100 this year!) but the longest anybody’s ever lived on my dad’s side is like 72 years. I seem to favor my mom’s genetics, though, so I think I’ll be around for a while! I’m super impressed by your ability to touch your toes with heels on. And I’m equally impressed that you actually wore heels that tall; I can’t walk in them to save my life!
Monday, June 20th 2011 at 5:43 pm |
Okay, I hate maths, but I LOOOVE those shoes. I could definitely use an extra six inches, that’s crazy awesome. And it’s so nice that the chef catered for vegans, even in a meat-orientated place; sounds good!
Monday, June 20th 2011 at 8:16 pm |
Your Grandma is so cute! I hope she had a very happy birthday!
Monday, June 20th 2011 at 10:01 pm |
I will have a chance tomorrow to catch up on all of your posts, but just wanted to write to say I am so psyched to meet you in August! Hope you have had a wonderful weekend / father’s day! Talk to you soon
Friday, June 24th 2011 at 5:25 pm |
Now that’s a pair of killer heels! Love that you’re wearing them even though you’re so tall already! It annoys me when people imply that I don’t ‘need’ to wear heels ’cause I am so tall already… I know that I don’t need to, but I like to wear them sometimes.

Loved this post! I also feel excited about getting back to blogging after a few days away!
The food at the restaurant looked really yummy! Too bad it didn’t fill you up!
Just keep at it on the job front… I know how you feel, cos that was me only a few months ago! I’m guessing its something short term you want cos your going travelling…? Can’t remember wether you have other plans for September, or wether your going to be a working girl!
