That Squash Lady

Hello kidlets!
OOOOOH boy! I just spent the last 2.5hours (almost 3!) battling away with that blasted statistics programme, SPSS. I hate it so. I hate data entry, I hate maths, I hate calculations – WHY did past psychologists feel the need to include all that crap to make the subject ‘more scientific’??!! BOOHISS at them!

(Ok – that is actually Excel – but I’m transferring Excel data into SPSS, and doing a buttload of calculations whilst I’m at it…)
Subsequently, my brain is fried, THUS (I love that word :p it makes me feel posh!) Part II of my ED story will come tomorrow – I nay have the energy to write it out tonight.
I DO have the energy to show y’all how I’ve powered through this mammoth math session:

Why, chocolate of course! (note the gum wrapper; I chain-chew when I’m working hard!)
And a Green Monster (kale-ified):

AND tempeh, with a banana-PB sauce, coz that’s how I roll :p

Notice the kabocha? Yeah, Waitrose are heavy on the kabocha-stock at the moment, so I thought it’d be just plain rude not to stock up; I currently have 4 sitting in my car. And a pequito squash. And a butternut squash. And 3 onion squashes. Hmm….methinks I have a problem. I’m suprised small children who see my driving haven’t started yelling ‘it’s that weird squash lady again!!’ when I go past, or why Waitrose haven’t barred me for buying up all their supplies
The day will come folks, mark my words.
Uh, anyway.
Twas a busy day today, yes it was! I was up bright and early for my daily apple and my daily Jillian. Today – levels 2 & 3 of 30 day Shred, plus an 8min section of Tae Bo
Theeeeeen I scurried off to uni, but not first without a delicious bowl of spicy oats in my tummy

Cooked on the stove then baked then rested – with vanilla extract, cinnamon, nutmeg and GINGER!

I love that crispy rim it gets whilst baking

I also had STRAWBERRY mousse today! With cacao powder and nutmeg <- though I don’t think the cacao actually had any effect at all; there’s now simply less in the packet :/

Wow, natural light makes so much difference. By the window sill, above and below:

And then on the counter top:

It’s really quite irritating
Now, lunch – I promised you that weird savoury brownie recipe, did I not!? Eat at your own risk….(I love it!)
Savoury Brownie Cake
- 1/2 can black beans (a 240g drained weight can, I think) – with most liquid drained off, but don’t go mad over it
- 1 tbsp cocoa powder
- 1tsp (or more if you want) date syrup (or other sweetener)
- 2 very finely chopped dates (I’d probably double them, if I did it again)
- juice of 1/4 orange
- 1tbsp oats
- salt, cinnamon and nutmeg to taste
- Drizzly sweetener (agave, maple, honey etc)
1) Put your beans, sizzup and spices in a bowl:

2) And mash something silly:

3) Get your orange…

…and squeeze some of the juice in – I can imagine it was about 1 tbsp worth.
4) Eat the rest of the orange:

5) Finely chop your dates, and add them with the oats to the bean mush:

You miiight want to add more oats, depending on how much OJ you used and how much bean juice (NICE!) was left on the beans.

6) Mix it all really well, then pour into an individual person dish thing (that’s been well greased). Drizzle the top with agave nectar (or other sweetener):

7) Bake at 180degrees (350F, or 160degrees fan oven) for 30-40mins. The top will look all cracked, and it’ll be pretty firm to the touch, but not FIRM. Just…softly firm
Easily pokeable with a finger!
Leave to cool in the tin.
It cooks a little more in the tin, and it’s awesome
It holds together well and tastes like a less-sweet brownie, but a pretty healthy one at that! If dates count as a veg/fruit portion, there’s TWO portions in there! Cos beans count, innit
I had my Savoury Brownie Cake as part of lunch:

It was gooooooood!!! Though I think I got some odd looks in the lecture hall when I whipped that out
Clothes wise today – it was all about the layers, cos it is COLD here. really freakin’ cold

(I have no idea why I look so distant and dim…maybe that’s how I always look, I’m just too thick to notice :p)
I am SO ready for summer.
Also – ready for BED + BOOK! Maaan I need a good sleep
And oh darn it – I just realised, I haven’t had my thrice daily Cookie Button yet. Best get on that.
Tell me – are you good at maths?
Are you sick of winter yet?

Your savoury cake thingy really does look scrumptious!
I can totally feel your pain when it comes to math programs. I have to use one called Maple and it makes me want to throw my computer out the window and follow shortly after it. (Dramatic, much?)I’ve done 3rd year calculus and am currently doing 3rd year applied mathematics. I wouldn’t say I was good at maths but I try.
I’m kind of looking forward to winter (because obv. it’s summer here
) which is weird because usually I HATE winter. BUT I’m hoping to go skiing/snowboarding which will be exciting

Hahah I chain chew too. Seriously, like half a pack in a few hours. It’s kind of gross.
I HATE WINTER GAHHHHHH. Ew. Hate it. Summer needs to come like a week ago. In my ideal world winter would only be in December, spring would come in January, Summer would come in March and Fall would come in November. I like it HOT!

I’m very sick of winter now, last week we had a sunny day – it tricked me. I thought spring was coming. Alas….no! I also hate maths, my husband however has a degree in physics/maths and a PhD in Physics and now works at University Loughborough researching something or other to with statistics! I feel very dim next to him!

I go to college in Colorado, and we just got another snowstorm. I’m beyond ready for spring! Playing rugby in the snow isn’t as fun as it sounds
