Love:

Chika:

Bless Chika, her coat is changing so she was feeling very itchy when she got in the field :p

Kittens:

Ok, now that’s done :D Besides taking pics of my favourite FluffBunnies in the world, I spent the rest of the afternoon mucking out, revising, and baking! I attempted - for the first time  - some oatmeal bars. The recipe I used was courtesy of Tina, except I changed a few things – wholemeal plain flour instead of normal plain flour, and instead of 1cup of raisins, I used a mix of walnuts, cranberries and sultanas/raisins.

Just before mixing….

Before baking…

After baking…

Cut up!

They were very delicious – I may have had a few crumbs or two whilst cutting the bars up :P My mum also had a bar, and she said they were divine, and gave them 10/10 :P I think I’ve made up for the cornbread fail last weekend! I’m hoping to get a lot more baking in now I’m home – it’ll keep me sane! What’s your preferred ’therapy’ for keeping sane? Baking and running…yeah, they do the trick for me !

For my afternoon snack, I had a hot chocolate and a dark chocolate soya yogurt:

I loove those dark chocolate soya yogurts- they taste incredibly rich (really dark chocolate-y) but light at the same time..A JOY to eat!

For dinner, I kiiind of attempted to be creative – I started by frying some leek, a mushroom and some garlic in balsamic vinegar, cinnamon, salt and pepper, and water:

I then got 40g of this three grain rice, spelt and barley mix:

And let it simmer with the leek and mushroom for a while. I tasted it, and it seemed a little bit bitter, so I added in some agave to sweeten it up :)

Just before it was finished, I added in some sheep’s milk cheese and melted it all in, then I served it with crown prince and parsnips:

Very tasty! Though the cheese made the rice stuff very liquidy (when I add it to oats, they get thicker – very odd), so I added in a few pieces of veg to thicken it out a bit - rice soup on a plate isn’t the easiest to eat! Anyway - I say it EVERY single time I eat it,  but sheep’s milk cheese is DA BOMB! Seriously, if you like tangy cheese, or goat’s cheese, and you see this stuff in the store- BUY IT!! :D

I’m now watching Come Dine With Me with my mamma bear before I go have my usual evening snack :)

Anyone else seen Come Dine With Me? Anyone else love Come Dine With Me? The show has a cookbook out now, it looks pretty cool :) As soon as I see it reduced somewhere, I’m buying that beast :P

Hope you’re having a good evening! See you Monday….

I LOVE come dine with me!! My blog name is kind of based on it! The one today was so funny. That man who had a gameplan was last. I’m glad that lady won though, so was the best cook. I always watch the repeats on more 4. I love the narrator as well, his comments are so funny!
Your oatmeal bars look amazing, I bet they are divine!
And chika is too funny, I love it! I’m glad you are home now and ready to bake. I too find it a great way to unwind.

Yeah, it’s a super show! They have 4 or 5 strangers host dinner parties for each other on consecutive nights in the week…’sparks fly’ as the narrator bloke would say! They have either AMAZING food (they create their own 3 course menu) or such crap, it’s unbelievable..and they rate each other’s nights, the winner gets £1000 :D
You should see if you can watch it online! :D
